What is the Popcorn Panel Movie Club? 

The Popcorn Panel Movie Club is a group of Perth’s most engaged film fanatics, gathering to enjoy the latest releases together on the big screen. We make movie nights fun and easy.

Film reviewer and The Popcorn Panel Movie Club host Alex Cearns shares movie times, locations, dates, and ticket links for the films she’s watching at a variety of cinemas in the movie club Facebook group here. Just grab your ticket online to whatever piques your interest, meet the crew ten minutes before the lights go down, and enjoy the show.

What can I expect on my first visit?
At your first visit you’ll receive an official ‘Popcorn Panel Movie Club’ lanyard to wear so everyone knows you’re part of the gang. It’s the easiest way to identify your fellow movie buddies. On arrival, look for others wearing their lanyards and you’ve found your movie people. 

Is there a cost?
It’s totally free to join! You only pay for your movie ticket to the sessions of your choice. There are also frequent free passes available to exclusive premieres, so those movies don’t cost you a thing – they are prestigious perks of being in the club.

I haven’t been to the movies for ages. Is this for me?
It sure is! You’ll be in great company, and it’s a perfect excuse to get out, enjoy a film, and reconnect with your love of movies.

Is there a set number of movies I have to attend? 

Not at all. You can come to one movie a year or one a week. It’s entirely up to you and there is no minimum number to see. But be warned, movie club is addictive and you may soon find yourself a regular.

What sort of movie genres does the club watch?

We watch a bit of everything! Whether you’re into big-budget blockbusters, indie gems, tense thrillers, amazing action, or horrific horror, there’s something for all interests.

Perth (and surrounds) based Adults who love movies and enjoy good company. Say goodbye to solo cinema trips and never miss out on a film again. Whether you need an excuse to see a movie or just want to hang out with friendly faces, this club’s perfect for you.

How do members contribute to The Popcorn Panel Reviews?
After each movie, club members rate it out of ten and Alex includes these scores in her reviews. There’s often some lively, robust discussion after each viewing – because what’s a good movie without a little debate? Come for the films, stay for the critique, and enjoy the like-minded camaraderie.

Do movie club members talk during the movie?
No way! We respect the cinema experience and our members have manners and don’t chat during the film. But afterwards, we love lively conversations and critiques, sharing our thoughts and favourite moments.
